Thats a strange verse,. Its not scriptural.
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Most church Christians use this verse to intimidate their flocks to pobey their local gobvernment and worldly politicians. Why because they have mixed politics with religion, and believe God is going to bless their country rather than bless individuals that follow the Lord.
But the Lord said, that only He rules over us and we have a direct link to HIM when we become Christians. There are no more middle men or clergy, or worldly rulers between HIM and us. The Early Christians, said we ought to obey God rather than men, when the local rulers were telling them to disobey the laws and witness of the LORD JESUS.
But Chrurch Christians also use this verse to excuse their obedience to local ungodly laws... that will cause no end of harm to those that unwittingly obey. Ignorance is never an excuse tiwth the Lord. This is especially true, in our age as we have access to the truth. The Lord always lets enough truth to get through, so that we are responsible.
Sure censorship is coming more and more, but even then we have the Lord in prayer and He can tell us all things and all situations, and tell us personnally what to do.
Sorry brethren, you have to grow up as individuals and only blame yourself if you make horrendous mistakes and are completely out of tune, because some of them are irreversible...and you know exactly what I am referring to.
